I managed to make it to Hallie's parade and party at her school...Addison came along to enjoy with her sister...The kids had fun and were able to parade around outside the school! It was fun!

What is my "core purpose" as mom..............

I was listening to WCSG (a christian radio station) at noon time today. There was a guy by the first name of Barry (I cant remember his last name). He was talking about what the core purpose of being Christian parents is. He was saying that 70% of the people he interviewed with this question believe that if their child is "successful" academically and socially then they have completed their mission. He went on to talk about that as Christians we need to be worrying more about teaching our children to Love Jesus more! Not be worried about our kids being more successful...like a star athlete, popular, an all A's student.....etc......WOW! So often lately I have spent sooo much energy on talking about the importance of reading, writing, homework, practicing soccer, staying focused, being responsible...(while all of this is important) I have really lacked on What REALLY matters the most... loving Jesus more and more everyday. Hallie has been struggling lately with friends, comparing reading levels and self confidence all around...I as her mom have struggled with what I can do to make this better...after hearing this man speak on the radio this afternoon I am reminded that if I focus more energy on knowing and loving Jesus more...then Hallie's self worth will not be measured on what others think but on what Jesus thinks...I know this will be a difficult thing and there will still be struggles but if I focus more on putting Jesus first above all the other stuff so will Hallie and Addison.

I just wanted to share this with the parents who read our blog! It was a much needed reminder for me...a little bit of a wake up call... Also another reason why I think WCSG is a great radio station!
